Agriculture

Agriculture sounds impeccable, effortlessly swerving from dreamy intros to the dark emptiness we all have somewhere deep inside of us.

It’s not often we get LA black metal acts to Norway.

I mean, we’re Norwegians, what is bleak enough about LA to start a black metal band?
Well, nothing is more bleak than the idea of everything being portrayed as perfect when the backside is rotten to its core, burnt to a cinder, and the one-percenters grow ever richer.

How do you even start finding yourself, your footing, your way in life, when surrounded by Hollywood, glossy colors, wealth and sunny weather?

That’s the perfect kind of bleakness if you ask us!

No wonder Agriculture sounds impeccable, effortlessly swerving from dreamy intros to the dark emptiness we all have somewhere deep inside of us.

Also, no wonder they got signed to The Flenser, having released outstanding records for Chat Pile, Elizabeth Colour Wheel and Bell Witch to mention some.

To bring it back on the lighter side however, Agriculture is not all about basking in the bleakness, or even nurturing it. As they themselves have said, The goal of this band is not to increase suffering

And if any label should be put on their sound, they prefer Ecstatic Black Metal more akin to Blackgaze than the traditional black metal we Norwegians are accustomed to.

And that’s exactly what makes this band special for us at Desertfest to present to you, they’re different. They’re trying to steer clear of the black metal tropes. They want to give us something different.
They have something else to say.

And we’re all for it.

We. Cannot. Wait.
